Work Period: 10-month

Hours: Full-Time

GENERAL SUMMARY: Works closely with the director of the Center for Digital and Visual Literacy (D-Center) to develop and integrate best practices for digital teaching and learning within the guidelines of federal, state and local laws and office, division and college processes and procedures. Works with students, faculty, staff and others to support the services provided in the center for Digital and Visual Literacy.


  1. Provides support, training and guidance to students working on their SUMMIT portfolios and support students as they develop their SUMMIT portfolios.
  2. Works collaboratively with associate director of the Center for Digital and Visual Literacy to provide vibrant D-Center programming and promote digital and visual literacy to all campus constituencies with a particular focus on student support.
  3. Manages and trains digital literacy tutors (D-Center peer tutors).
  4. Develops and coordinates educational workshops to promote digital and visual literacy.
  5. Leads the development of assessment goals and annual reports.
  6. Conducts research on and makes recommendations regarding: computer hardware and software for instructional use and support; trends and directions in the use of technology in education; and best practices/policies in instructional technology.
  7. Designs and maintains the D-Center website.
  8. Develops and updates online and print documentation resources.
  9. Designs and maintains an active blog on the activity of the center and points of digital/visual interest pertaining to the campus community.
  10. Coordinates with Summit advisors on issues related to the SUMMIT portfolio.


Education: Bachelor's Degree required, with specialization, interest or advanced coursework related to educational technology or digital communication preferred. Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and experience in a similar position or sufficient experience in liberal arts or digital studies in a higher education environment. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent written, visual and oral communication skills.
  • Strong intercultural competence and a desire to work with students from diverse backgrounds at various levels of experience.
  • Proficiency in WordPress. Additional knowledge of web collaboration tools and blogging platforms preferred.
  • Technical skills in multimedia devices, media applications, and visual/video editing software preferred.
  • Strong understanding of the communicative power of visual information in a digital world.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment to meet established goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and work effectively with all segments of an academic community.
  • Willingness to maintain confidentiality and abide by the Agnes Scott Honor Code.

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office.
