GENERAL SUMMARY: Works closely with other admission staff members to implement recruitment activities in support of the college's annual enrollment goals within the guidelines of federal, state and local laws and office, college and division policies and procedures. Reports to the director of admission, associate director of admission or other designated person and works with coworkers, prospective students and their families, high school counselors, and alumnae in seeking potential candidates for admission to Agnes Scott.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  1. Interprets college and admission policies and practices to students, parents, alumnae, staff and guidance counselors, in a variety of settings including evening information programs, high school visits, college fairs, and counselor meetings.
  2. Plans and executes recruitment activities within assigned territories, which will involve approximately 8 to 10 weeks of travel during the fall and spring.
  3. Conducts on-campus interviews and information sessions to both large and small groups; assists with other on-campus recruitment and yield activities.
  4. Evaluates applications for admission and scholarships.
  5. Fulfills programmatic responsibilities assigned by the director of admission based on the needs of the office.
  6. Compiles extensive mid-year and annual reports and interprets relevant data.
  7. Operates within approved travel and program budgets.
  8. Serves as a resource for student workers and admission volunteers.

REQUIREMENTS

Education: BA/BS in related occupational field of study.

Experience: Minimum 1 year work or internship experience in admission.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: 

  • Highly motivated, results oriented and goal driven.
  • Good judgment and the ability to maintain confidentiality in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work creatively and efficiently, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to communicate professionally, tactfully and effectively to a wide variety of individuals.

Other: 

  • Travel required from office to other locations on a regular basis.
  • Possess a valid state driver's license.
  • Irregular, evening and weekend hours are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Intermittent sitting, standing, stooping, crouching, walking, and occasional moving of light objects. Work is performed in an office with occasional travel.
